March 3rd Chapter Meeting
March 8, 2015On Tuesday, March 3rd, Websense came out and spoke to Texas State AITP and gave everyone a little insight about what it's like to work day to day in network security. They spoke about the type of threats they have found and fought as a company. They also emphasized the importance of teamwork in that line of work and encouraged that students take on real world projects and competitions. They considered those type of real world experiences the difference makers when they are hiring new Graduates.
Bobcat Day Spring 2015
March 8, 2015AITP woke up bright and early on Saturday, February 28th, and was a part of the Spring 2015 Bobcat day. AITP spoke on behalf of the CIS majors under the McCoy's Business School and answered questions that prospect students had, along with sharing experiences from being a part of AITP and a fellow CIS student over the years.
AITP Visits an Old Time Favorite, Sean Patricks, for the 2nd Social of the Year!
February 22, 2015AITP met up at the famous Sean Patricks and had a wonderful time, with many good appetizers, and friends! All with many games of shuffle board, pool, and foosball memories being made. We will be looking forward to many more good times!

Barbara Denton Speaks to AITP
February 6, 2015This week at our AITP chapter meeting we had Barbara Denton as our guest speaker. Barbara is a Collaborative Systems Manager at Tokyo Electron in Austin. She came to share her perspective on the search for our first IT jobs. She told us of her experiences and perspective of hiring, and was kind enough to give us some insider tips for resumes and behavioral questions.
AITP Kicks Off the 1st Social of the Year at Hungry Gamer!
February 1, 2015The Spring 2015 semester has begun. Which means, it's time to get back to business. In order to lighten the mood Texas State AITP took on a work hard / play hard approach. We kicked off the new semester with our first social of the year at Hungry Gamer on the Square. Members and Officers got together and got a chance to eat, play and take their minds off of school for a little while. Thank you to everyone who came out! We hope to see everyone at our next social.

January 24, 2015On January 22nd, 2015 Texas State AITP held it's first meeting of the new Spring 2015 semester. We got the chance to see some new faces as well as some familiar ones. We discussed some of the upcoming events for the new semester as well as the best ways to get involved and earn some hands on experience.

AITP October Student Chapter Meeting

James Wroten of Verisoft gave an excellent talk on his experience founding his own business.
Our Prep Courses were held to help prepare AITP members for competiton in AITP Regional Competition in Lawton, Oklahoma. Categories of competition and preparation: Database Prep Course, Microsoft Office Solutions Prep Course and Systems Analysis & Design Prep Course.

Thank you to those who attended our 1st Chapter Meeting! We are proud to announce we had a record turnout!
Elizabeth Gibson, Treasurer for our A.I.T.P Chapter, accepting membership dues and taking names before the meeting. Dr. Robert A. Davis and Dr. David Wierschem look on as incoming students receive handshakes and greetings from Tristan and Andrew Maynard. Liz Ulam, A.I.T.P. Chapter President, communicating the possibilities and opportunities membership in A.I.T.P. can offer motivated students. Full house at the first meeting as Liz Ulam talks about preparation training classes for our regionals competition and sign up. Sogeti recruiter, Mr. Kevin Cheesman, gives us background and information on what Sogeti can offer the right candidates. Mr. Steven Troccoli of Sogeti finishes up and takes questions on his presentation: Digital Transformation. Prof. Kevin Jetton in the background hands out regionals sheets as Tristan assists students in signing up for regionals competition Prepatory Classes. Before the infosession, two of our recent C.I.S graduates ( Micah Gibson and Serena Moreno ) took time to catch up with Prof. Jetton. Micah graduated in May 2014 and Serena in May 2013. Both are currently USAA employees.
